Art Prints
Art prints are copies of original paintings by
artists. They may be done by the artist himself or by
others. The artist who made the original painting can make
as much as 50 prints or more. Because this is not
considered the original work, art prints are cheaper than
the original artwork. This price difference has made the
shipping of such pieces very affordable.
Aside from art posters which had become popular among art
collectors and art lovers, art prints also became known
worldwide. Since not all can afford to have original paintings
by famous artists, the closest that anyone whose budget is a
bit limited can get is the art print. Just like original
paintings, art prints are now considered collectibles and much
sought after.
In the past, there were only three ways of making prints.
First is through relief method. In this, the print is carved on
a raised surface. The design is then inked and printed Second
is "intaglio" and is the opposite of relief printing. In
"intaglio", the print is made from the lines of areas which
have been cut or burned away. The third method is the
planographic process wherein the most popular way is
lithography. This process was popularly used because it was
less complicated and was better suited to mass production.
Art prints are also reproduced through the process known as
giclée printing that involves the spraying of inks or pigments
onto non-photosensitive papers, capturing the rich and vibrant
colors of the original artwork. Unlike posters, art prints are
more durable and can last for several years, but even so, they
must be treated with special care so that they will last
longer. Transportation of prints is usually done by packing the
piece in a tube, this protects the print in transit.
Art prints can be excellent wall decors
for your homes and offices. They add color and class to any
room though they are just copies of original artworks. Art
prints also show the preferences and styles of the people
occupying the room decorated with a particular art print. You
may have a renaissance theme in your room with a print of a
renaissance painting. You may also opt for an Asian inspired
room or you can give your room a modern look by just simply
hanging art prints.
This type of artwork is also a very good idea for a gift.
Any art lover would always love receiving a piece of art even
though it’s just a reprinted version of an original artwork. Of
course there’s so many of them to choose from that you can
always have something which will be appreciated by the
recipient. For example, you can give an art print of a garden
to those who loves gardening and everything about flowers.
